October seats are showing up on CPD calendars again — peer workshops, webinars, and EDUTIVE’s next published intake of Monday 12 – Tuesday 13 October 2026 (AEST). The question most agents and LICs actually have is simpler than the noise: should you lock October now, or wait for a later window?
Start here: an October intake is a booking window, not the Fair Trading deadline. The 2026–27 NSW CPD year runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. Required CPD must be finished by 30 June 2027. Missing an October seat does not mean you have missed NSW CPD.
Confirm the live year and interactive rules on the official Fair Trading CPD page. If October suits your diary and you hold a residential salesperson or buyers agent pathway, you can browse packages on NSW CPD courses. This is a practical calendar guide, not legal advice.
October is a booking window — not the CPD deadline
Providers publish October dates because agents plan Q4 diaries in September. Fair Trading does not set an “October cut-off.” If you miss this intake, you have not failed the year — you still need a plan that finishes your required hours and topics by 30 June 2027.
If you are already close to year-end with nothing booked, that is a different conversation — see what happens if your agency misses NSW CPD. Most readers in late September are still mid-year and choosing a seat, not recovering from a miss.
The 2026–27 CPD year
Fair Trading: the CPD year for licence and certificate holders starts on 1 July each year and ends on 30 June the following year. For this cycle that is 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027.
Completing early inside that window is fine. Fair Trading also states that CPD arrangements do not provide for carry-over from one year to the next for most licences — except assistant agents. So finishing in October does not “bank” hours for 2027–28; it clears this year’s requirement while you still have runway.
What “book October” actually means
For EDUTIVE, booking October means locking a seat in the next published interactive intake — currently Monday 12 – Tuesday 13 October 2026 (AEST) on the live catalogue — that covers compulsory topics for a matching pathway. It is not an NSW Government October deadline. Always re-check dates, fees, and seats on NSW CPD courses on the morning you enrol.
Reasons to book the October intake now
- Seats and webinar caps. Fair Trading caps interactive webinars at a maximum of 25 attendees and face-to-face at a maximum of 40. Catalogue seat counts change; if a date suits you, locking it early is often simpler than hunting later.
- LIC / whole-office planning. Getting pathways assigned before Q4 intensifies saves last-minute roster chaos. See enrol whole office for NSW CPD and CPD Tracker once people are enrolled in a current CPD year EDUTIVE course.
- Clear the diary early. Finishing core hours in October still leaves months before 30 June 2027 if anything needs a resit or a Class 1 forum booking.
- Two-day feasibility for matching pathways. Many residential salesperson and buyers agent packages are built as a two-day sitting — format detail lives in finish NSW CPD in a two-day intake.
When waiting is reasonable
Waiting can be the right call. Open homes and auctions may already own those two days. You may want the whole PM or sales team on the same roster. You may prefer a later published intake if one appears on the live catalogue.
Either way, you still need to finish required CPD by 30 June 2027. If you joined an agency after 1 July and your CPD year feels compressed, see mid-year starters and the agency CPD plan.
What the October intake covers (and what it doesn’t)
Published EDUTIVE packages
EDUTIVE’s live enrolment packages today are for residential salespeople and buyers agents — typically 7 interactive hours across 4 compulsory topics for each pathway (topic lists differ). Browse NSW CPD courses and re-check the live fee and seat count before you pay (research day showed about $349 for those packages).
Other pathways and Class 1 extras
Other areas of practice have their own Fair Trading lists — use the NSW CPD requirements 2026–2027 matrix. Residential property managers have a published topic list of their own; see what residential property managers must cover in CPD this year. There is no EDUTIVE residential property manager package on the October catalogue today, so do not treat salesperson or buyers seats as covering a PM pathway.
If you hold a Class 1 licence, core pathway hours are not the whole story. Fair Trading’s accredited forum (minimum 5 hours, in addition to core) still applies — see How Class 1 agents complete the NSW Fair Trading accredited forum and Class 1 vs Class 2 NSW CPD. An October two-day core intake does not replace the forum.
CPD year vs licence renewal
Your CPD year and your licence renewal clock are different timelines. Completing October CPD does not by itself renew your licence, and a renewal date does not move the 30 June 2027 CPD end. For renewal planning, see renewing a NSW real estate licence.
Practical checklist before you book or wait
- Confirm your area of practice against Fair Trading.
- Confirm interactive format plus assessment from an approved provider (face-to-face ≤40 or webinar ≤25).
- Decide: lock 12–13 October 2026 if it still suits, or plan a later window — still finish by 30 June 2027.
- LIC? Map the whole office early; soft-path enrol whole office and CPD Tracker.
- Class 1? Plan the accredited forum separately.
- Keep completion evidence (Fair Trading: Class 1 and Class 2 licence holders keep records for 3 years).
- Re-check live NSW CPD courses and the Fair Trading CPD page on the morning you enrol.
Next steps
- Confirm the year, carry-over rule, and interactive caps on the official Fair Trading CPD page.
- If October suits and you are a salesperson or buyers agent, browse the next published intake on NSW CPD courses (12–13 October 2026 if still listed).
- Format proof for a two-day sitting: finish NSW CPD in a two-day intake.
- Interactive rules in more depth: interactive CPD for NSW property professionals.
- Already near year-end with nothing booked? Read NSW CPD noncompliance for agencies calmly — most September readers still have runway.
Book October if the dates work and you want the seat locked. Wait if your diary genuinely needs a later window. Either way, plan to the Fair Trading year — not to one provider’s October calendar.
