If you hold a Class 1 NSW property licence, your CPD year is not only core pathway hours. Fair Trading also requires a minimum of 5 hours at a NSW Fair Trading accredited forum that is relevant to your licence category. That forum sits on top of your core CPD hours for 2026–27 (1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027).
Confirm the live wording on the official CPD requirements page under Additional requirement for Class 1 agents. Dual licence holders only need one accredited forum during the CPD year. AUSTRAC’s Class 1 AML course is a separate piece — it sits outside the forum framework.
For the full hours-and-topics matrix, see NSW CPD requirements 2026–2027. For how Class 1 and Class 2 differ more broadly, see Class 1 vs Class 2 NSW CPD.
What the Class 1 accredited forum is
Fair Trading: Class 1 licence holders must spend a minimum of 5 hours attending a NSW Fair Trading accredited forum relevant to their licence category, in addition to their core CPD hours. Choose a forum that fits your area of practice and professional responsibilities — for example, the work you supervise or the licence category you actually use day to day.
A normal compulsory CPD course (the interactive topics for your pathway) does not replace this forum. Book core hours and the forum as two different items on your year plan, even if you try to finish both before 30 June 2027.
Dual licence holders: one forum for the year
If you hold a dual Class 1 licence, Fair Trading says you only need to attend one NSW Fair Trading accredited forum during the CPD year.
That “one forum” rule does not rewrite your core dual-licence topic map. You may still need compulsory topics for more than one area of practice. For mapping multiple areas, see NSW CPD for multiple areas and dual licences.
Two ways to complete it
Fair Trading’s own sessions
NSW Fair Trading will hold several forums in the 2026–27 CPD year. Keep the email contact details on your licence up to date so you receive session information.
Do not wait on a peer RTO calendar for Fair Trading’s own dates. Use the notices tied to your licence email and the live CPD page. Session venues and agendas change — treat third-party listings as a prompt to check Fair Trading, not as the official timetable.
Select approved providers
You can also meet the 5-hour requirement through select approved providers. Fair Trading notes those accredited sessions may incur a fee.
Details of NSW Fair Trading accredited forums delivered by approved providers appear in the Approved Provider list on the same CPD page. Look for a line labelled like Class 1 Accredited forum under a provider’s entry. Different providers list different forum titles — pick one that matches your practice, then confirm it is still on the live list before you pay.
For the habit of checking that list before you book anything compulsory, see how to check NSW Fair Trading approved CPD providers.
Keep the forum separate from your other CPD pieces
Three Class 1 pieces often get mixed up in the same inbox thread:
- Core compulsory topics and hours — delivered by an approved provider, in an interactive format, with assessment. Browse NSW CPD courses and the requirements guide.
- Accredited forum — minimum 5 hours at a Fair Trading accredited forum; the 5-hour accredited forum you still need to book.
- AUSTRAC Smart real estate agent’s guide to AML/CTF — for Class 1 holders in Fair Trading’s named areas of practice. Fair Trading says this sits outside the accredited-forum framework and is separate from compulsory approved-provider topics. See AML/CTF awareness for NSW agencies.
Fair Trading also keeps the compulsory topic Supervision Guidelines and AML/CTF in agency practice as a separate approved-provider topic. That classroom topic is not the AUSTRAC course, and neither of those is the 5-hour forum.
Checklist before you book
- Confirm you hold Class 1.
- Plan your core pathway hours (the forum does not replace them).
- Choose Fair Trading’s own sessions, or a select approved-provider forum.
- Keep your licence email current for Fair Trading session notices.
- If you use a provider forum, confirm a Class 1 Accredited forum line on the live Fair Trading Approved Provider list.
- Dual licence? Still one forum for the year.
- Keep completion evidence with your other CPD records (Fair Trading: Class 1 and Class 2 licence holders keep records for 3 years).
- If AUSTRAC applies to your practice, track it on a separate line from the forum.
Next step for core hours
While you arrange the forum through Fair Trading or a listed forum provider, finish (or book) your core pathway hours with an approved provider. Browse packages on NSW CPD courses. Agencies that want team visibility can use CPD Tracker when enrolled in a current CPD year EDUTIVE course.
Edutive Pty Ltd (EDUTIVE) is on Fair Trading’s approved-provider list for compulsory pathway topics — confirm on Fair Trading. For the Class 1 forum itself, check the live Approved Provider list for a Class 1 Accredited forum line under whichever provider you choose, or wait for Fair Trading’s own session notices via your licence email.
The hard end of the CPD year is still 30 June 2027 if you are planning against year-end. An October course intake is only a booking window for core hours — it is not the forum deadline and not the CPD year end.
