Can I finish NSW CPD in a single two-day intake?

Yes for many single-pathway NSW agents in 2026–2027 — if an approved interactive intake covers your compulsory topics, hours, and assessment in one sitting.

Yes — many NSW Class 1 and Class 2 agents can finish their core compulsory CPD for the 2026–2027 year in a single two-day intake, provided the programme covers every compulsory topic for their licence category and area of practice, is delivered by an approved provider in an interactive format with assessment, and meets the published minimum hours.

For a residential real estate salesperson, that published minimum is 7 hours across 4 compulsory topics. Buyers agents, commercial agents, and several other pathways also sit at 7 hours (with their own topic lists). A well-designed two-day interactive intake can deliver that block in one sitting.

This guide explains when a two-day finish is realistic, when it is not, and what to check before you enrol. It summarises published Fair Trading rules (last updated 9 July 2026 at the time of writing) — it is not legal advice.

What “finished” means for compulsory CPD

Fair Trading’s published rule is pathway-based, not calendar-based. You finish core compulsory CPD when you have:

  1. Covered all compulsory topics for each licence category you hold and each area of practice in which you operate
  2. Met the minimum interactive hours for that combination
  3. Completed training with an approved provider
  4. Completed it in an interactive training environment — face-to-face (maximum 40 attendees) or interactive webinar (maximum 25 attendees)
  5. Completed an assessment activity as part of that compulsory training

There is no Fair Trading rule that says you must spread hours across the year. Completing early is allowed. Carry-over into the next CPD year is not available for most licences (assistant agents who complete extra Certificate IV units are the published exception).

For the full hours and topic tables, see our 2026–2027 NSW CPD requirements overview. For what “interactive” means in practice, see what interactive CPD means for NSW property professionals.

When a two-day intake usually works

A single two-day intake is a good fit when:

  • You work in one Real Estate area of practice (for example residential sales, or buyers agency), or you hold a pathway whose published minimum fits a compact timetable (for example 7 hours / 4 topics for residential salespeople)
  • The intake maps explicitly to your compulsory topic titles — not a generic “CPD hours” claim
  • Delivery is live face-to-face or an interactive webinar within the published attendee caps
  • Assessment is included, and you receive completion evidence you can keep

Example: a residential salesperson package that runs Auction laws and practice, Contracts, Rules of Conduct refresher, and Supervision Guidelines and AML CTF in agency practice across two live webinar days can satisfy that pathway’s published 7-hour / 4-topic minimum when the sessions are delivered correctly by an approved provider.

When two days is not enough on its own

Book the intake as a core block, then check whether anything else still applies:

Dual licence categories

If you hold more than one broad licence category (for example Real Estate and Strata, or Real Estate and Stock and Station), you must complete CPD for each category and your area of practice. Shared mandatory topics do not need to be repeated if all learning outcomes are met — but where topics do not overlap, the minimum hours for each category still apply. That often means more than one sitting. See NSW CPD for multiple areas of practice and dual licences.

Multiple Real Estate areas of practice

If you operate across more than one Real Estate area (for example sales and buyers agency), you must cover mandatory topics for each area. Shared topics can count once when outcomes are met; unique topics add time.

Class 1 extras

Class 1 holders must attend a NSW Fair Trading accredited forum relevant to each licence category they hold, in addition to core CPD hours. In relevant areas of practice they will also need AUSTRAC’s real estate AML training. Fair Trading has indicated further detail on forums and AUSTRAC delivery will be provided — plan those separately once published. A two-day core package does not automatically clear unpublished Class 1 extras.

Assistant agents

Certificate of registration holders follow a different pathway: Certificate IV units toward a Class 2 licence qualification, not the interactive compulsory-topic hours that apply to Class 1 and Class 2 licence holders. A two-day interactive webinar intake for licensed agents is not their published structure.

Residential property managers

Fair Trading is still finalising Residential Property Manager topics and hours for 2026–27 (including the Domestic Violence reforms topic). Do not assume last year’s list, and do not treat a sales or buyers package as a substitute until the 2026–27 RPM schedule is published.

What to check on the enrolment page

Before you book a “finish in two days” option, confirm:

CheckWhy it matters
Approved provider for 2026–27Compulsory topics must be delivered by a provider approved by the Strata and Property Services Commissioner
Topic list matches your pathwayHours alone are not enough — compulsory topic titles must match your area of practice
Interactive format + attendee capFace-to-face ≤40 or interactive webinar ≤25
Assessment includedCompulsory topics must include an assessment activity
Evidence you can storeYou must keep your own records (3 years for Class 1/2 licences; 4 years for certificates of registration)
Dual / multi-area gapsExtra categories or areas may need a second booking

EDUTIVE (Edutive Pty Ltd) is listed among organisations approved to deliver compulsory learning topics between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. Always re-check the current approved-providers list on the official NSW CPD page.

How EDUTIVE structures a two-day finish

EDUTIVE runs live interactive webinar intakes that package the compulsory topics for selected pathways into a compact timetable. The next published intake window is Monday 12 – Tuesday 13 October 2026 (AEST), covering residential real estate salesperson and buyers agent packages through the CPD Course catalogue.

A typical residential salesperson path across those two days covers Auction laws and practice, Contracts, Supervision Guidelines and AML CTF in agency practice, and the Rules of Conduct refresher — aligning to the published 7 hours / 4 topics for that area of practice when you complete the live sessions and assessment. Buyers agents share several sessions and take the marketing-services / scope-of-practice topic on their pathway instead of the Rules of Conduct refresher slot.

After completion, keep certificates with your log. CPD Tracker can help you store planned and completed learning for the rest of the CPD year, including any Class 1 extras once Fair Trading publishes delivery detail.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complete NSW CPD in two days?

Often yes for a single licence category and area of practice, if an approved provider delivers all of your compulsory topics as interactive training with assessment and the hours meet your published minimum. Dual-licence holders, multi-area agents, Class 1 extras, assistant agents, and pathways still being finalised (such as Residential Property Managers) may need more than one intake or a different structure.

Does a two-day online webinar count as interactive CPD?

Yes, when it is delivered as an interactive webinar by an approved provider with a maximum of 25 attendees. Marketing language that only says “online CPD” is not enough — look for live interactive webinar delivery (or face-to-face within the published face-to-face cap).

If I finish early, can unused hours carry into next year?

No for most licences. Fair Trading’s CPD arrangements do not provide for carry-over from one year to the next, except assistant agents who complete additional Certificate IV units during the CPD year.

Do Class 1 agents finish everything in a core two-day package?

A complete core compulsory-topic package can cover the interactive hours and topics for your area of practice. Class 1 holders still have accredited-forum and (in relevant areas) AUSTRAC AML training obligations that Fair Trading has said will be detailed further. Treat those as separate line items until published guidance is available.
